Family Night Shelling & Snorkeling Tours in Sarasota, Siesta Key & Anna Maria Island

A guided evening in knee-to-waist-deep water with a big light, a guide and your kids. 1 hour 15 minutes, every night at 8:30 PM.

Is this really OK for kids?

It is your tour. Go as shallow as you want or out to about 4 feet. The guides are there for safety, to teach about the sea life, and to help everyone find something.

Under 4 feet of water

You wade in from shore. Your 7-year-old will be about waist deep, and parents can walk alongside and never put their face in.

A guide with your group

One guide stays with the group the whole tour, and a 10,000-lumen light pod lights up the water around you.

Gear on every kid

Every guest wears a safety noodle, a whistle and a glow stick. Kids 5 and under bring their own fitted life jacket and water shoes.

Choose your beach

Siesta Key

Shallow water and free parking

Meet at the Sarasota-side bridge parking lot and wade in from shore. Olives, augers, scallops and sea urchins to find.

Sarasota

Meet at the City Island roundabout

Meet at the roundabout at City Island Park. Whelks, fighting conchs, sand dollars, and sometimes a horseshoe crab or seahorse.

Anna Maria Island

A night out on the island

Meet next to the King Fish boat ramp in Holmes Beach. Scallops, olives, crown conchs, starfish and small fish.

How the night goes

  1. Gear up. We offer a mask (optional), and give you aqua socks, a noodle, a whistle and a glow stick. The socks are yours to keep.
  2. Wade in at your own pace. Go as shallow as you like, up to about 4 feet. The light pod glows and your guide is close by.
  3. Hunt. Kids scoop with a net and pop finds in the mesh bag. Empty shells are keepers.
  4. Show-and-tell. Back on the sand, the guide shows what everyone found and what it is called. Live animals go back in the water.
  5. Home by about 10. The whole tour is 1 hour 15 minutes, starting at 8:30 PM.
